What an eventful day, and it's only half way over!
The Mr. & I wrote up an offer for a 3 bedroom, 2 bath home in Rohnert Park last night. It recently came on the market, and is a little bit of a fixer upper. At first glance it's not going to be as much as a fixer as the Cotati house was turning out to be. So, it was true, we didn't get the Cotati house because there was a better one waiting for us.
I digress. The offer was received by the Selling agent this morning, and by 10:00AM, she had called our agent to advise that a written acceptance of our offer would be in to his office later this afternoon!
This is the first step in the right direction for us to become homeowners. They've accepted our offer, now we just need to get a few things in line, and if all goes well, we'll be residing in our first home before Thanksgiving!
As if that wasn't enough, we also had a pre-natal appointment today to review the recent genetic screening test and Ultrasound results. My heart and bloodpressure are normal, and the baby weight gain is right on track. After a short visit with the Dr., she advised that baby Mason is showing no signs of genetic abnormalities, and the screen came back normal. Mason's heart is healthy and strong, and he's shaping up to be a strapping baby boy. He's definately measuring a little large for only 19 weeks along, but the due date is going to stay the same. If he happens to be early, no biggie. :)
AND... The Mr. got his hands on FREE Raider tickets for Sunday's game! *~* Let's go RAIDERS, let's go! *~* Mason will get to experience his first stadium rumble and I may just have to splurge on some nasty Stadium Nachos. :)

Rough Night
I think Mason was starting to show signs of rebellion last night. It took quite a while for me to get comfortable because he wasn't tucked in close, like he normally is right around bed time. In fact, he made it almost impossible to get comfortable at all.
Once I finally was able to get comfortable, he managed to find my bladder to use as a pillow. Needless to say, I was up 4 times last night to seek some relief.
I even broke down this morning and got a decaf, non-fat, pumpkin spice latte from Starbuck's this morning to give a little pep to my step. I feel like I could almost fall back asleep in my desk chair now.
Tonight we have plans to look at more homes in the area, and I hope it goes quickly 'cause I could use the rest.

Baby's Gone Wild!
The following are the most recent ultrasound(US) photos of Mason. He's a little camera shy and kept shielding his face from photos, hence the shot of his arm and fingers up close. :)
First, one of my favorites, his lips opened up and if you look close, just above and to the left slightly, you can make out his tiny nostrils.

Next, his face. If you look back at the first US photos, you can now tell that the bones in his forehead have begun to fuse. This is his right arm, with fingers clentched towards the left. And you can sort of make out his left fingers all spread out just beneath it.
Now, his ever so cute, little tootsies. His toes are pointed down and to the left.
And finally, the obligatory boy shot!
I hope you all enjoy the update. Love and hugs to you all! ♥ the Mr. & Mrs.

Next please,
A call came in from the realtor. Apparently another offer was submitted to the sellers that was more appealing to them, and they accepted it.
So, our search continues for our first home. It's a discouraging defeat, but only gives us opportunity to find a better home.

No News is Good News... right?
Our counter offer on the house has been submitted and we got a call from our realtor to confirm and advise that he hasn't heard a response yet. He doesn't anticipate that they will submit a response until their last day, which would be this coming Saturday.
In Baby news, Mason is getting stronger. I have a distinct feeling that he's going to be a strapping young man.
I normally eat a small breakfast right after I wake up, around 5:45am, then get ready for work and head out. Then once I arrive to work, I get settled and have my second breakfast around 9-9:30am.
Well, today I started to get hungry again closer to 8:15, but decided I would wait until my normal time to heat up my oatmeal. At 9:15 I got up to make my oatmeal, and had to make a pit stop along the way. Before I could get back to the oatmeal, I felt an unmistakable "ping" in my right side. Apparently I wasn't reaching for the oatmeal soon enough, and Mason decided to kick me into high gear. :)
In fact, as I'm typing this, and the keyboard tray is hitting my belly, he's kicking back. I guess I should send a very special hello straight from Mason's Morse Code.
"Bump" "ping, ping"
Oh, and I swear I'll post those new ultrasound pictures as soon as I can.

You have been Declined!
Our agent met with the Sellers and their Agent for the Cotati house last night. We don't know all the details, but apparently the wife squawked at our offer and put on quite a dramatic show. I imagine that the couple may have been tired and irritable, not just from old age, but from a long drive up from LA where they were visiting family.
Needless to say our agent didn't stick around long, and shortly after leaving received a call from the Sellers agent with an un-official counter-offer. For us, it was a ridiculous counter and there was no way that the Mr. and I would agree to the terms. We talked it over and have requested a new offer be written to counter their counter. I have a feeling that if they don't become more realistic and reasonable about the condition and value of the house, that we may have to walk away from this diamond in the rough.
So, until then, we wait.

What a busy weekend! Pt. 2: House Hunt
Well, after the first house viewing disappointments, our realtor Troy has come through. On Thursday he took us first, to a home that was listed a little higher than our price range, but it may turn out to be the diamond in the rough. I think we viewed 3 homes that night, and attempted one more, but couldn't unlock the door.
The first was a modest home in Cotati, 3 bedrooms, 2 remodeled baths, a remodeled kitchen and newer carpet. The sellers are an elderly couple who have moved to an assisted living center, as one is wheelchair bound. The remodels were done about 2 yrs ago when they purchased the place, and weren't done with the best skill. There's a lot of finish work that should be done, but for the most part it's livable. It will need a new roof in the near future and there seems to be some settling on the property, which is expected for a home that's 30 yrs old.
We then expanded our search to Santa Rosa, and although the homes were larger, the commute that I would be left with didn't outweigh the appeal of the homes. We called it a night and agreed to pick back up on Saturday.
Saturday comes and we were going to look at a few homes in Rohnert Park that had just fallen into our potential price range, due to some price reductions on the sellers part. After some discussion since our last viewing, the Mr. and I decided that we wanted to see the Cotati house once more. We went again, and found some other minor issues with the finishing details of the home and moved on to Rohnert Park.
The homes in Rohnert Park are listed at about the same price as Cotati, but seem to be finished better. The neighborhoods weren't the most desirable, but we wouldn't have much to do in order to live comfortably in them. The only downfall, is they were marked a little on the high side of our price range, and with nothing to complain about, there wouldn't be much bargaining room for us.
The Mr. and I talked some more, and figured that we still liked the Cotati home, and probably had the most potential for bargaining the price down to a more manageable budget for us. So we called on the Mr.'s Dad. He's a retired contractor with experience in fixing up a home. We asked if he would take a look at the Cotati house and give us his feed back. It was decided that we'd look again on Sunday.
We spent about 2 hours at the Cotati house on Sunday and got the thumbs up from dear Dad. After a little number crunching and some discussion with our loan agent, we decided to make an offer on the home in Cotati. We wrote up an offer last night and our realtor will be presenting the offer to the sellers sometime today. Fingers and toes are crossed for a positive outcome, but it's looking like the Mr. & I are one step closer to owning our first home.

What a busy weekend! Pt. 1: Baby
Friday, the Mr. & I attended our Level 2 Ultrasound. I knew there would be a lot the technician would look for, but I had no idea it would take as long as it did. We were there for 45 minutes before she gave up and asked me to come back when baby would cooperate. She was able to get all the measurements she needed, except a clear picture of the heart.
Our little buddie has been confirmed a BOY, and he's a big little guy. He's measuring a whole week larger than he should be, which I contribute to some genes that skipped over me and some from the Mr.'s side. We'll find out in 2 weeks if the Dr. decides to change the due date, and if she does that should put us right around a Valentine's Day birth.
We've got some more pictures that I'll try to post this week as an update here. There's one of his face, where you can definitely tell the bones in his forehead have begun to fuse. We've also got a shot of his little feet and toes, and one of his right arm and hand all curled up. Of course there's the obligatory "boy" shot. But my favorite has to be the one of his mouth and nose. I imagine that he was protesting all the prodding and was trying to sleep, because his mouth is slightly open and his arm is blocking his eyes from view. Definitely our child! :)
Keep watch for the photos to appear!

Shhhhh... we're hunting wabbits!
We're actually hunting for a home and started our search last night. We met with the realtor and viewed 5 homes in Rohnert Park. It went well and we got a good scope of what's really out there. A few of the homes we had viewed from online listings, so it was interesting to see them in real life and compare how skewed or realistic the photos are.
**First was "Grandma's House". If we weren't expecting a child in the near future, it would have been a great starter home. The bedrooms were extremely small. So much so that the Mr. & I may have had to consider having separate bedrooms. :) And man was it HOT in there, at least 90. We even checked the thermostat to be sure that the heater wasn't on.
**Second is what we have dubbed, "No. 2". The rooms were a good size, the landscaping basically a blank slate, new carpet, remodeled kitchen, and a good size garage. There were some drawbacks, namely the price tag. Also, it seemed to be a home that someone was attempting to Flip before the market turned. The cabinets in the kitchen seemed nice, but upon closer inspection were assembled poorly. The floor in the kitchen was botched down the center and had a bubble near the pantry, and it seemed to have a very cushy feel to one side. Mr. & I suspected that they installed the laminate on top of the carpet pad. It was also on a shared driveway with 3 other homes, not so bad because this one was on the street side, but may become an issue with the Chevelle.
**Third was "The Rental, gone bad". It was listed as move in ready but needed so much more before it was going to be move in ready. They attempted to spruce it up with new carpet, but it was a failed attempt. Several of the windows appeared they were going to fall out of the tracks and the first one you see from the driveway was shattered. The kitchen seemed to be all original as well as the bathrooms. Again the rooms were small, as to be expected in our price range. The back yard was large and spacious and backed up to some railroad tracks. It was questionable if they were still in use. This was in the same neighborhood as No. 2, and was at the back of a shared driveway which again could be a noise issue with the car.
**Fourth was the "Hot Tub" house. Strangely enough, this house had an atrium at the center and housed a hot tub between the dining room and the master bedroom. I immediately got a bad vibe from this house and wasn't too keen on the Hot Tub taking center stage. The property line to one side was right on the neighbors home, and even with the vaulted ceilings in the living/dining/kitchen area, the house seemed really dark. The garage had some shevling and cabinetry installed, but would be more of a hindrance than a blessing.
**Number five, "The Last One" seemed to have the most promise. Basically a blank slate for us to eventually remodel how we wish. The kitchen is really small and needs some updating, and unfortunately you can see what the neighbor was cooking from the window above the sink. The living/dining area was nice open and airy feeling with a fireplace. Bedrooms were a little larger than those we had seen before, but both the hall bath and master bath needed a major overhaul. It also backs up to a major street, and when out in the backyard, can get a little noisy with road traffic. The back yard has a deck and again is basically a blank slate for landscaping. The garage was a little odd. The washer was along the same wall as the kitchen, and there didn't appear to be any place for a dryer except an outlet on the back wall, nor was there any place for a vent for the dryer. Hmm... a little strange, but again, fixable.
So far The Last One is top on our list, followed by No. 2. We're going hunting again Thursday night and may expand the search to Santa Rosa. There are tentative plans to scope the neighborhoods of our top pics over the weekend to get a better feel for the surroundings.
Meanwhile, baby Mason is happy and content. Nothing much on the baby front to report these last few days, but we'll keep you posted.

A Moment
I just wanted to take a moment to give prayer and thought to all of those affected by the 9/11 tragedies. Not only those who lost their lives and their families, but all of those who aided in the recovery efforts. It takes a strong soul to withstand so much.
Watch your fingers.... she's hungry!
My appetite over the last few days has become voracious. Over the last 48 hrs I have consumed the following:
2 bowls of Cocoa Puffs with skim milk
1 bowl of Malt-o-Meal
1 bowl of Cinnamon & Spice Oatmeal
1 Meatball Sandwich with Provalone and pepperochini's (2 meatballs on a rustic roll)
1 bag of "less" salted Kettle chips
1 serving of fruit salad
3 slices of BBQ'd Tri-Tip steak
1 serving of Caesar Salad
1/2 ear white corn
2 slices of cheesy garlic bread
2 boneless pork chops
1 serving of steamed green beans
1 applesauce
1 diced peach fruit cup
And it's only 12:10 PM! I still have to make it through afternoon snack and dinner tonight. Dinner will consist of Turkey Burgers, Scalloped Potatoes and another salad. Probably followed by some Dibs for dessert.
If you haven't discovered them already, Dibs are mini chocolate covered bites of ice cream and are to die for! A pregnant woman's dream! A serving size is 26 Dibs, but really you can satisfy a craving with much less than that. I would say about 5-10 Dibs is sufficient. :)
No one can say that I'm starving my child. I cannot believe that I'm eating so much. And with all that I've eaten, I'm never left over stuffed. I definitely reach a point where I feel full, but not so much that I just couldn't eat another bite.
So if the preggo Mrs. says she's hungry... keep your fingers and toes out of the way! You're liable to loose one on her search for nutrition. :)

Labor Day Weekend
What an event filled weekend!
We started off Friday evening with a dinner and a show hosted by the Mr.'s employers. We had an excellent dinner at Mc Near's Saloon in downtown Petaluma, and then headed next door to the Mystic Theatre for a rockin' show. We had the honor of seeing Surf Rock Guitar legend Dick Dale. The opening band was amazing and very entertaining! Unfortunately, by the time the headliner came on, the Mr. & I were exhausted and fading fast with all the heat in the room. We stayed long enough for 4-5 songs and then called it a night.
Mason must have enjoyed all the excitement and noises from the previous night because I was awaked to a "Tap, tap, tap." I do believe that these are the first genuine movements I've been able to feel. They had no more pressure than a finger's gentle touch, and were in rapid succession while I was lying in bed trying to convince myself to get up for breakfast.
Most of Saturday was spent cleaning house and tidy-ing up. But Saturday evening we spent with some friend's who are new parents themselves. Their little man is quite adorable and only 7 weeks old. He did the most adorable "Turbo-Suck" with his pacifier! I'd never seen a baby do that before. Any how, we had a lovely meal and quality time with our friends.
Sunday was an early rising day to complete some house chores and begin packing my pre-pregnancy clothes. I was able to pack up so much, that it looks like I might not have anything to wear come winter. :) I condensed some more stuff and have made room for some little baby gifts we've received so far. Thanks to you all!
Monday was a very early rising day, as the Mr. & I headed out to the race track for Mason's first experience at the Drags! It was a cool morning, and the afternoon not too warm. The Mr.'s car didn't preform as we had expected, but it was a fun day overall. It was a long day though, and once we returned home Mason and I were exhausted. Needless to say, this morning was quite a challenge, and the bed felt like quicksand as I pryed myself from the sheets. I soooo didn't want to get out, but alas, work calls.
