Today was my Intake appointment with Kaiser. I was under the impression that this would just be a routine physical to assure that I was in good health to carry, lil' buddie. Well, I was wrong, and had anyone told me what was going to transpire, I would have made darn sure that the Mr. was with me.
I met with Midwife Alexis, who initially did a quick sonogram to find Lil' Buddie's heartbeat. She was able to distinguish it right away, but I had to look a while longer before I noticed the flicker. Gee does that little motor run fast! While Alexis was trying to get a clear picture, lil' buddie decided to do a little dance and kicked legs and waved arms and even wiggled around a bit. Then I saw it, that rapid flicker, and then I was mush. What a wonderful feeling to be able to see the life growing inside of you and know that it's well on it's way to surviving on it's own.
Buddie was measured at a whopping 2.9 milimeters, quite small, and has been dated at 9 weeks and 5 days old. This will bring our estimated delivery date to Feburary 20th! just one day shy of Poppa's birthday.
We've now told the parents to spread the news, and close friends will be alerted if they haven't been already! I'm so over the moon to have met my lil' buddie today and can't wait to recount every second with the Mr. later this evening.

This Kid is Kickin' My Arse!
The fatigue is unbearable. I can't do anything without wanting a nap. Even sitting wears me out. I've learned my lesson though, from here on out I'm only allowed to participate in one event per weekend. Doing something on both Saturday and Sunday is too much for my pregnant self to handle. I get headaches, irritable, and even more nauseous.
I'm headed out tonight to try and find at least one pair of comfortable pants to wear to work. Coming in with pants half zipped isn't going to cut it for much longer.
Then again on Sunday maybe with Mom for some more comfy clothes shopping and to scope out a potential crib.
Next Monday is my intake appt, which will be a general physical and lots of paperwork. Fortunately, I got the paperwork at my last visit and have it all completed. They might check to see a heartbeat, but I doubt I'll get to hear it. Lil' buddie is only the size of a pencil eraser at this point, so it's not likely we'll see much.

Maternity Wear is fabulous!
I know this is probably more information than most of you wish to hear about, but I have to let it out! Maternity Underwear are FABULOUS!
They are the most comfortable invention of a lifetime in a woman's wardrobe. It's amazing! No pinching, no tugging, no wedgies. They're fabulous!
Other than the rave for granny-panties, not much is happening.
The fatigue is incredible. I can't walk from one room to the next without the want to sit down and lay my head upon the table, a book, or the arm of the chair to take a quick nap. Sitting at work in front of the computer is proving to be quite a challenge and I find myself almost completely horizontal by 10am. After lunch, well just forget about it! I'm not lifting my lids for anything after a meal. Lil' buddie sucks all the energy out of me if there's something to digest.
The Mr. has been incredible. As my emotions get more frazzled, he's there to give more hugs. He's making sure that I'm eating enough, and has even offered to go pick up a craving item or two. Of course, I feel silly asking for a Dove bar on a whim, because I really don't need Ice Cream, but it sounds so delicious! So far cravings haven't been too odd ball. Mostly just comfort foods, but I continue to crave them until I have them. Once I do have them, I eat about half of what I thought I wanted, and then the food is ruined, lil' buddie has had it's fill and wants nothing more to do with it. I'm hoping that lil' buddie isn't a finicky a eater as the Mr. Otherwise I'm in for a life long battle with two picky eaters. :)

The Nausea's Back for Round 2
(I'll apologize now for the jumpiness of this message. Pregnant brain has not been kind to me, so I try to note stuff as I'm reminded of them.)
It hit me the day before yesterday. I was just fine, went for a trip to the grocery store and whammo! So far it's been the worst yet. I'm only thankful for the fact that I haven't lost my cookies yet and I'm hoping that I won't have to.
I haven't gained or lost any weight, but was on the heavy side to begin with so I'm sure lil' buddie is just fine in there.
I should be about 6 weeks along now, but still haven't received the 2nd of the two blood tests I took at Kaiser, so I'm not sure if that dating is correct.
The Mr. has an out of town show to work the same weekend as our first anniversary. He's trying to swing it so we can be there together so we can celebrate. At that point I should be about 5 months pregnant, so I might be showing then. :)
Well, back to work before I forget what I'm doing.

Battle of the Bloat
Well, since we've found out that we've got a little buddie I have been battling the bloat. At one point it was so bad that I looked several months pregnant before I even hit the 2 month mark.
It seems that the water rentention has settled a little because I'm now actually able to zip up my pants and button them! I was afraid that I would have to invest in maternity pants right away, but it now seems that I'm going to be able to survive a few more weeks without taking that jump. Whew!
I can also say that my food preferences have definately turned into cravings. Last night I had the hunkering for some of the Mr.'s Uncles Lasagna. Unfortunately, he lives more than 50 miles away, and driving out there to demand Lasagna just didn't seem practical. So I settled for a traditional Lasagna from Whole Foods. Have I mentioned before that they are now my favorite place for take out? Everything's so fresh and delicious smelling in the hot food section. One of these days I'll have to try their burrito bar, I hear it's all the rage!
